Guy KUSTERS from Belgium, started to learn Taekwondo in 1984 at the age of 17. Looking to expand his martial art knowledge he also started Hapkido.
By learning Korean martial arts he became interested in Asia and especially Korea. In May 1994 he went to Korea for the first time to train Hapkido.
So far, he visited Korea more than 25 times and also lived there for 2 years. During his visits he met all kind of interesting Korean people and meanwhile he also became interested in Korean culture and traditions.
Several times he organised trips to Korea for Belgian and Dutch hapkido students.
Currently Guy Kusters holds black belt ranks in different Korean Martial Arts (Hapkido, Haedong Kumdo, Hanmudo and Taekwondo). For a couple of years he was a guest member of the Korean Hapkido demo-team and in 2007 he took part at Chungju World Martial Arts Festival in Chungju and Kanghwado Dolmen Festival, broadcasted on MBC-TV. In spring 2010 he was a guest teacher for Hapkido at Daelim University College in Anyang.
His other interests related to Korea are food, buddhism, traditional music, language, photography and sharing his travel experiences. In 2014 he was selected as an Honorary reporter for the Korea.net blog.
